What Happened to Miracles

Reading the news before going to bed can cause one to lose sleep. Listening to the rhetoric spewed by rival political parties can instill grave disillusionment with our current administration in Washington. Knowing that our congressman are more concerned with who will win the next election than they are about solving the financial crisis we are bound in creates a feeling of disgust for their immature high school football team rivalry type antics. Discouragement and hopelessness has begun to creep into our homes as the unemployment rate climbs.

The rivalry has become so entrenched nothing short of a miracle will wake congress from their slumber. We need a miracle to solve the health care crisis. We need a miracle to restore the hope of the citizens of the USA. What happened to our security in the belief that we were world leaders and the patriotism we all once enjoyed? Now we experience shame as the world watches us in the throes of chaos. If one believes in karma one might think our warring and destructive ways have come back to haunt us.

What is known of miracles?

I have been witness to many miracles in my lifetime and now that I live on a quiet acreage away from the mainstream I hear little news of miracles. Recently, I began thinking about the different forms of miracles. Some come quietly to an individual under extraordinary circumstances. Others take place within a group of believers who pray fervently for healing of the group or a sick friend. Still others miracles manifest when a large group gathers to assist in a unified intent as healers lay on hands and pray for the healing of all who are present and in need. Most often the power of a unified group will create the most significant results. We need a good miracle or two to revive our hope in the future of our country.

I could discuss miracles at length and share many fascinating stories but at this point my thoughts turn again to why I recently did a Google search to see what I would find regarding miracles. What I discovered predominantly were press releases, blogs, and news stories about “miraculous” new drugs and medical treatments. The search result was most disappointing! Medical science is now the author of miracles. When did the shift of power take place?

Do miracles still exist? Of course they do however one must consider, they may be dwindling in numbers. The question is why? Have we reached a level of disbelief or have we become so disconnected by our stressful lives that we lack awareness to see them? I trust it is just the fact that we do not write about miracles or talk openly about them however I could be too hopeful and optimistic because it is possible that miracles are in fact dwindling in number.

I will cling to the former position of hope but hope could discount the reality of the despair we are experiencing as Americans. Hope will not feed the millions who are starving in the US and hope will not alter the fact that our present administration is apparently inept to change our circumstances. Firing the lot of them and starting over may make a difference more rapidly as change comes too slow when we are forced to wait until the next election and then we still only hope things will be different. The difference is it often gets worse instead of better.

What Can We Do to Help?

The grumbling and gossip of the American citizenry is inadequate to create a miracle of change. Only our active involvement will stir the melting pot to unified action. Divisions in party politics are a cancer that is devouring the hope of American people. We do indeed need a miracle. Or if one is not forthcoming, a peaceful revolution designed for getting rid of sophomoric administrations and replacing them with some mature individuals who have the wherewithal to rally for the preservation of the sport and not just for their favorite team.

According to any faith, the poor are not ignored and forgotten by the ‘powers that be.’ Even if our suffering is seemingly inconsequential to our elitist government, we are a people without hope but we are not hopeless. We are still praying for a miracle because god fearing people dread that only utter desperation will be the driving force that will bring our pompous administration to its knees. History reveals that sometimes only total devastation will bring leadership back to the position of servitude they were elected to fill. We fear because the people take the fall with them.

If you, the reader, are a person of prayer then now is a good time to pray on behalf of the people of this country and the prayer should be for justice for all. “Enough” is the word we should cry out on behalf of our children and their children. Time may be growing short because many things we hold dear are rapidly eroding away. Pray today and every day for justice for all. Remember! Most often the power of a unified group will create the most significant results. Enough, we must say, “enough!”

In over twenty years experience with the miracle of communicating with and releasing lost souls to the light, preparations could not have been made for a most unusual and exciting miracle of that which took place in the fall of 2004. A mass clearing of ghosts or souls…truly a miracle.

My intentions were to spend a weekend with a new friend. She was anxious for me to meet her neighbor who was equally intrigued by mystical events. Shortly after arriving and sitting in a loft type living room chatting with the neighbor and my friend’s teen daughter; we waited while our host fixed dinner.

Suddenly the neighbor looked puzzled and asked, “Did you hear that?” I had not heard anything out of the ordinary. The neighbor thought it was our host speaking from the foyer below but she was in the rear of the house cooking. Of course, we were compelled to investigate as only the four of us were in the house and we were all accounted for.

As we headed down the spiral staircase to the foyer I felt a strong presence and knew whoever had come in the house was in the empty bedroom just inside the front door. We entered the empty room together, No one was there. Listening intently with my mind, I sent out a message telepathically of a short “Hello?”

Instantly, I was assaulted by a tirade of foul language and accusations about some unknown “S.O.B.” who had apparently cut this woman’s life short 4 years earlier. I asked questions only briefly of whom she was and why had she come into the house; asking just enough questions to ascertain what I needed to do help her and get her out of the house.

I had a good mental image of her large frame and brown hair as she paced, waving her arms yelling that “some drunk driver (foul language spewed liberally throughout) had hit her car and killed her.” She was so angry, vengeful, and irritable I was a little surprised at her willingness to explain. I knew she was at least aware she was dead from her discourse (not all ghosts are) so I told her I would help her move on the other side. She was so pleased! She calmed down immediately.

She then stated, “There are 40 more just like me outside. They sent me in to find you.”
Not only had she entered that house abruptly without invitation, she was in the company of 40 more lost or trapped souls. Another surprise yes, but part of the miracle of clearing places effectively is being ready for the unexpected, so I smiled and said, “I will need a coat, please wait outside and I will be right out.” She went outside.

I hurried to find my coat and the neighbor and my host’s daughter were right behind me.
As soon as we stepped outside I began to visualize entities coming across the street. They were coming shadow-like lined in rows from over a bare ridge. Awe took over as the number coming over that ridge was indeed much greater than 40. Wanting to be sure I was not imagining something, without divulging anything, I asked the ladies with me, “What do you perceive is going on here?” They studied the scene and then both reported they saw hundreds of spirits coming quickly towards us. We shared notes briefly of what we saw and confirmed they were coming as close to us as possible and then bowing down on the lawn. We waited with baited breath.

After a few minutes, I asked them all to stand stating that this was not a time to beg or be afraid of the experience…I motioned for all of them to stand up and said, “Be happy for this is a day of joy for you” Honestly, I was most uncomfortable with them bowing to us.

Their numbers were confusing and a little alarming. Never having been confronted by so many at one time, I was a little unsure of how to handle the situation. Clearing an area of a few or even 15-20 entities is a miracle but simply could not compare to this momentous occasion. I had to ask for help on this one. “Father, I asked, what do I do with so many?” His quick reply was “Just open a portal, send them through, and then quickly close it again.” Doing as instructed and praying in tongues the portal opened to the other side. The three of us began requesting angels and guides to come and escort them through. Within seconds the energy cleared and everything became still.

The portal was now closed yet we stood there in amazement sharing the miracle we had been a part of and we all talked at once in excitement. Suddenly we felt tiny drops of water on our arms and faces. Looking up into a beautiful cloudless, starlit sky, a smile spread across my face. “Tears of joy, those are tears of joy from those who just left, I explained. We all shared that physical sign of miracles with a tear in our eyes too.

As we began to walk away I muttered to a spirit guide, “There were so many” His reply, “Many more than you think…there were over 4,000 souls here tonight.” Naturally, my mind was already reeling because so many had come but over 4,000? My question was how did they know I would be there. I had only gone for a rest and relaxation and had planned nothing of a spiritual nature other than sharing with friends.

Still to this day I have no idea how they knew. I probed for information regarding the area in Wilmar and the surrounding area. The neighbor said, “Historically many Native American and Calvary battles had been fought there. Also, just over the ridge was the location of what was once a state hospital where many abandoned people had died anonymously over the years.” It was then easy to understand the number of the souls that wandered that area.

To this day, I feel honored to have been a part of that amazing miraculous night. I still get chills thinking about it. I still do not know how they knew I would be there. I had never been in that part of Minnesota before. Some miracles of clearings we never understand but we accept them for the miracle they are.

Misty Day

As a health psychologist I became fascinated with people’s holistic need for the spiritual aspects of life and how if those needs were unmet people did not heal from disease. The spiritual seems to be of paramount importance to health. I became intrigued by the fact that the need when met could come to the person in any form, Christianity, Muslim, Islam or Buddhist to name a few of the mainstreams of spiritual believe systems. It is also apparent that the New Age form of spirituality fills the need for a knowledge of something outside of and greater than the self.

I have mentioned the ‘normal’ paths to spirituality but what of the curious or the obsessed that ardently pursue the paranormal, metaphysics, psychic realms and anything not explained by and also shied away from by the mainstream faiths and dogmas? Can the ‘unusual’ fill the need for knowledge of something greater than the self?
Similarities of All Systems
So what is the common ground that all forms of beliefs obviously possess? The assurance of something beyond what we see, hear, feel, touch, and smell in this human experience. All faiths indicate we have a 6th sense or one that detects the intangible. We need to know there is life after death because death is imminent and the prospect makes most people so uncomfortable that they do not want to think about it.

However, if there is an existence beyond death then comfort is provided a dying individual and the mortal in each of us. We need to know that we do not cease to exist upon stepping through death’s door. If we can validate the existence of something; ghosts, phantoms, angels, apparitions and so forth then we can rest assured that we too may continue on in the next cosmic plane we might discover when we die.

Oftentimes our interest is pursued as a way of seeking validation in order that this existence may be assisted by helpful terrestrial beings and thus we feel less helpless. This is why we pray. We need help from someone or something that is greater than ourselves and not helpless to alter our present situation, Yet, I believe the roots are deeper in our psyche than we acknowledge.

It is a deep seated and innate need to find some sort of system of faith in order that one is whole…or living holistically. Man has sought the spirit realm since the beginning of time as we can measure it. We cannot address the mind and body without addressing the spirit if we hope to feel whole or be healthy. So, we innately pursue something to believe in.
For Example: We Will Kill and Die for Our Faith
Our spiritual construct or belief system is so paramount in our need for righteousness that we will go to war and kill those who do not believe as we do. The Middle East for example is a hot bed of holy wars…all fought to prove the sanctity and “chosen one’s” aspects of the region’s faith. Muslims hate Christians and Christians see Muslims as deluded and misled in their belief system. Christians have long slaughtered those of other faiths and we still do today. Christians feel compelled to save the world by converting it to the “right” faith, i.e. Christianity. Ironically, Muslims feel and believe the same way.

Faith in other words is a great and powerful motivator and can be a deadly tool that is exploited as justifiable cause for many apostasies man creates and inflicts upon others. “God wills it”, we cry! I wonder how we know that God wills it and if he/she does then what kind of god is that? Curiously, who would follow that system in earnestness and trust of a loving higher being? So, I having lived many different types of faiths and belief systems can see the appeal of the paranormal for it lacks the judgment and self-righteousness attached to many mainstream beliefs.
The Neutrality of the Paranormal
Seeing and believing in ghosts promotes the basis and foundation of life after death as one believes ghosts or apparitions are proof of an afterlife. It also satisfies the need to believe that one will live on without the restrictions attached of the sinful state and the ensuing punishment or reward system that can create ego problems for the self-proclaimed righteous and shame for the so called sinner. The belief in and the pursuit of the paranormal is in this respect neutral. It does not inflict a system of dogmatic rules and do’s and don’ts and it does not deceive followers with respect to one’s paranormal belief system is ‘right’ and all others are wrong. The paranormal-ist, for lack of a better name, is like a neutral country that says, “Leave me out of your wars and disputes. I just want to be spiritual.”
Paranormal Defined
By definition the word paranormal implies that the scientific explanation of the world around us is the ‘normal’ part of the word and ‘para’ makes up the above, beyond, beside, contrary, or against part of the meaning. Mainstream faiths fit this definition yet are more acceptable, possibly because of the larger number of proponents or adherents to religious systems and possibly because of its century’s long list of believers. Consider that many opponents of the paranormal postulate that Christ was real because the ‘Bible says it’s so’ and yet they have little if any proven scientific data to support their beliefs. Thus, by definition, religions are normally, paranormal.
Who Cares?
The Committee Skeptical Inquiry has 50,000 journal publication subscribers…people in general are interested in the paranormal as are scientists and scholars.

What Do People Believe?
A 2001 Gallup Poll ( wikipedia, 2001) found that the general public embraced the following:
• 54% of people believed in psychic/spiritual healing,
• 42% believed in haunted houses,
• 41% believed in satanic possession,
• 36% in telepathy,
• 25% in reincarnation, and
• 15% in channeling.

A survey by Jeffrey S. Levin, associate professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School, Norfolk found that over 2/3 of the U.S. population reported having at least one mystical experience. My guess is that many among the ranks of these believers would rely upon something greater than the self to promote healing their body. In other words, they would pray for healing and believe it was possible to be healed. And some scientific evidence points to the fact that those who have faith heal faster than those who do not.
So What?
Getting back to my original point, the spiritual side of our being needs to be acknowledged and nurtured regardless of the path we choose to walk in the pursuit of knowledge and understanding the unexplained and inexplicable, i.e. the supernatural. I would be hard pressed to say one system is better than another…I am stating that if any of the systems promotes greater psychological and physical health then it should be acceptable and promoted.

Oh, just so you know, I believe in ghosts, angels, E.T’s, gods and even demons. I also believe in Christ, Buddha, and all historical prophets. I have not found any evidence to disprove them. I relish the wonder of the vast expanse of universes and the unexplained that I can explore. This objective consciousness of the limitlessness of other dimensions keeps me intrigued and seeking more wholeness. It is a great feeling to be AWE-struck by some new discovery or idea.
