Reading the news before going to bed can cause one to lose sleep. Listening to the rhetoric spewed by rival political parties can instill grave disillusionment with our current administration in Washington. Knowing that our congressman are more concerned with who will win the next election than they are about solving the financial crisis we are bound in creates a feeling of disgust for their immature high school football team rivalry type antics. Discouragement and hopelessness has begun to creep into our homes as the unemployment rate climbs.
The rivalry has become so entrenched nothing short of a miracle will wake congress from their slumber. We need a miracle to solve the health care crisis. We need a miracle to restore the hope of the citizens of the USA. What happened to our security in the belief that we were world leaders and the patriotism we all once enjoyed? Now we experience shame as the world watches us in the throes of chaos. If one believes in karma one might think our warring and destructive ways have come back to haunt us.
What is known of miracles?
I have been witness to many miracles in my lifetime and now that I live on a quiet acreage away from the mainstream I hear little news of miracles. Recently, I began thinking about the different forms of miracles. Some come quietly to an individual under extraordinary circumstances. Others take place within a group of believers who pray fervently for healing of the group or a sick friend. Still others miracles manifest when a large group gathers to assist in a unified intent as healers lay on hands and pray for the healing of all who are present and in need. Most often the power of a unified group will create the most significant results. We need a good miracle or two to revive our hope in the future of our country.
I could discuss miracles at length and share many fascinating stories but at this point my thoughts turn again to why I recently did a Google search to see what I would find regarding miracles. What I discovered predominantly were press releases, blogs, and news stories about “miraculous” new drugs and medical treatments. The search result was most disappointing! Medical science is now the author of miracles. When did the shift of power take place?
Do miracles still exist? Of course they do however one must consider, they may be dwindling in numbers. The question is why? Have we reached a level of disbelief or have we become so disconnected by our stressful lives that we lack awareness to see them? I trust it is just the fact that we do not write about miracles or talk openly about them however I could be too hopeful and optimistic because it is possible that miracles are in fact dwindling in number.
I will cling to the former position of hope but hope could discount the reality of the despair we are experiencing as Americans. Hope will not feed the millions who are starving in the US and hope will not alter the fact that our present administration is apparently inept to change our circumstances. Firing the lot of them and starting over may make a difference more rapidly as change comes too slow when we are forced to wait until the next election and then we still only hope things will be different. The difference is it often gets worse instead of better.
What Can We Do to Help?
The grumbling and gossip of the American citizenry is inadequate to create a miracle of change. Only our active involvement will stir the melting pot to unified action. Divisions in party politics are a cancer that is devouring the hope of American people. We do indeed need a miracle. Or if one is not forthcoming, a peaceful revolution designed for getting rid of sophomoric administrations and replacing them with some mature individuals who have the wherewithal to rally for the preservation of the sport and not just for their favorite team.
According to any faith, the poor are not ignored and forgotten by the ‘powers that be.’ Even if our suffering is seemingly inconsequential to our elitist government, we are a people without hope but we are not hopeless. We are still praying for a miracle because god fearing people dread that only utter desperation will be the driving force that will bring our pompous administration to its knees. History reveals that sometimes only total devastation will bring leadership back to the position of servitude they were elected to fill. We fear because the people take the fall with them.
If you, the reader, are a person of prayer then now is a good time to pray on behalf of the people of this country and the prayer should be for justice for all. “Enough” is the word we should cry out on behalf of our children and their children. Time may be growing short because many things we hold dear are rapidly eroding away. Pray today and every day for justice for all. Remember! Most often the power of a unified group will create the most significant results. Enough, we must say, “enough!”
